L3 CTS Signs Three Year Training Agreement with WOW Air

L3 Commercial Training Solutions (L3 CTS) has announced a new training agreement with WOW air to deliver recurrent training for the airline.

The Icelandic carrier has selected L3 CTS for a three-year contract, with an option for renewal, to deliver training for pilots across its A320 and A330 fleets. The agreement commences immediately and means the airline will also be one of the first customers at the L3 London Training Center, the new Headquarters for L3 CTS, which is due to open late 2018.

The agreement will cover the majority of WOW air’s training requirements by providing simulator services, type rating and Cross Crew Qualification (CCQ) training. WOW air is Iceland’s low-fare transatlantic airline. WOW air flies twice-daily from London Gatwick to Reykjavik, and as of spring 2018, the airline will serve 38 destinations across Europe, North America and Canada. Created in November 2011 by Icelandic entrepreneur Skúli Mogensen, the purple airline flies Airbus A320/321 and Airbus A330 models, with an average aircraft age of 2.9 years.

“We are delighted to announce the agreement with WOW air, which highlights our capacity and quality to support the training needs of major airlines,” said Robin Glover-Faure, President of L3 CTS. “We look forward to working closely with the airline for many years and welcoming them to our new London Training Center.”

Ragnhildur Geirsdottir, Chief Operating Officer at WOW air, added, “Training is one of the most important elements for the safety and quality of our airline business. The success of this agreement is key to us and important for us to be able to continue to grow our airline.”
