Instructor Pulls Off Forced Landing Onto Busy Motorway

An instructor with two students on board made an emergency landing on the busy A8 autoroute in the south of France after reportedly experiencing engine failure. The aircraft, a Robin DR400 operated by Aeroclub Du Soleil, appears to have been undamaged in the forced landing, which appears to have taken place on the east-bound carriageway of the road between the towns of Brignoles and Le Luc.

Local media reports appear to show the aircraft parked on the ‘hard shoulder’ of the motorway, close to a set of overhead powerlines. There were no injuries to any of the aircraft’s occupants nor anyone on the ground, the aircraft was dismantled and removed on a low loader lorry the same day.
