Increase your gliding experience – gliding scholarships

These awards offer solo glider pilot awards of up to £300 to gain flying experience and new qualifications. The competition is open to young people permanently resident in the UK who will have reached their 16th but not their 26th birthday on 1 April 2018. The scholarships are intended to help advance gliding skills for solo-standard glider pilots. Scholars will be asked to specify for what they would like funding. Typically awards will be made of £300 per scholarship.

Winners will be responsible for arranging their flying training at a Junior Gliding Centre or one of the clubs listed on The Air League website. Those who successfully complete their scholarship will be presented with an Air League Certificate at The Air League Annual Reception held normally in London in the May/ June of the year following training. Applicants must be a member of The Air League (or be applying to be a member at the time of application for the scholarship).

Selection will be based on the electronic application. It is recommended that applicants complete as many of the questions with as much detail as required. If any clarification is required, an Air League assessor reserves the right to make contact via telephone with the applicant.

The closing date for applications is 16th February 2018
