Irish ATO Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) has announced a new mentored training programme to supply pilots to private jet charter company GlobeAir.
The exclusive partnership is now open for applications from EU/EEA and British passport holders, with training programmes commencing next year, offering a secure route into the exciting world of private jet charter operations.
GlobeAir operates Europe’s largest fleet of Cessna Mustangs, classed as Very Light Jets (VLJs), providing them with a unique flexibility in the private jet market, enabling access to the smallest of regional airports across the continent, many of which are not normally accessible to larger aircraft. Successful graduates from the AFTA-delivered training programme will progress to Cessna Mustang type ratings at GlobeAir before being placed as First Officers with the pan-European operator, flying business executives, celebs and VIPs to exciting destinations across Europe, with a much larger degree of ‘hands-on’ flying experience when compared with airline operations.
Successful candidates will undertake an 18-month extensive training programme with AFTA, training at Cork and Waterford airports in Ireland, on AFTA’s next generation G 1000 NXI Glass cockpit Cessna 172’s for the initial phase of the flight training, followed by the Diamond DA42 NG Twinstar, and B737 NG and 737-8200 simulators for the advanced phases.
Commenting on the new partnership, Bernhard Fragner, GlobeAir CEO, said: “GlobeAir continues to identify innovative partnerships to help us stay at the forefront in the private aviation sector. We have carefully selected AFTA as our pilot training partner due to their high standards and commitment to excellence. By working with them, we hope to provide a path for a new generation of aviation enthusiasts to join the GlobeAir.”
AFTA Managing Director Mark Casey added: “We are proud to have been selected by GlobeAir to train cadets for their future careers as commercial pilots in 2023/2024. Our new partnership with GlobeAir is testament to AFTA’s successful record of helping leading global airlines to train their pilots to the highest possible EASA standards in a training environment designed to challenge and enhance their cadets flying skills. AFTA will celebrate 28 years training commercial pilots in their careers next year and we look forward to the next 28 years expanding the business on the world stage.”
