A look ahead to noteable dates and deadlines for March 2023:

  • Saturday 4 March: Cranfield University Open Day

Cranfield University, Bedford. For “those interested in postgraduate study”, the University offers “the widest selection of specialist aerospace postgraduate degrees in the UK“. A registration form can be completed via this link.

  • Saturday 11 March: 2FLY UK Seminar

The Hilton Garden Inn, Heathrow Airport. “The seminar is designed to show you how you can forge a career as an airline pilot working for one of Europe’s leading airlines,” claim the organisers. Online reservation is required, although parking is free.

  • Tuesday 14 March: Honourable Company of Air Pilots Gliding Scholarship applications close

Applications for this year’s Gliding Scholarships – a residential course scheduled to take place this July / August – will be closing at 12:00 noon on 14 March. Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview in London on either 26 or 27 April.

  • Sunday 19 March: CAA CAP 1616 consultation closes 

The deadline for the Civil Aviation Authority’s airspace change guidance consultation, extended by a fortnight due to “interest across the sector“, will now close on 19 March. The CAA “welcome views fro all stakeholders affected by airspace change” via their dedicated consultation website.

  • Saturday 25 March: Scotland’s Pilot Careers and Flight Training Seminar 2023

The Holiday Inn, Glasgow Airport. Hosts ACS Flight Training will also be awarding their 2023 Flying Scholarship at the event. Early Bird tickets £2.50 (ending on 11 March) and standard tickets £5.00.

  • Saturday 25 March: Young Aviator’s Dinner 

The RAF Club, Piccadilly, London. The event will be co-hosted by The Air League and the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. Places available in advance: individual members £59.50, guests £69.50.

  • Saturday 25 March: Pilot Careers Live Madrid 

Hotel NH Collection Eurobuilding, Madrid. One of five European Pilot Careers Live events. Tickets free but bookable in advance online.

  • Thursday 30 March: GASCo safety evening, Goodwood Aero Club

  • Friday 31 March: The Royal Aero Club Trust bursary applications close

A number of bursaries are available from The Royal Aero Club Trust, covering four main areas: flying, flight simulators, aeromodelling, and an advanced category. Applicants between 14-21 (24 for the latter category) have until the end of the month to apply.
