A new MPL (Multi-Crew Pilot Licence) programme for Bamboo Airways has received approval by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), making it the first MPL programme to be delivered in Vietnam.
The programme is being delivered by flight academy BAA Training Vietnam on behalf of Bamboo Airways, following the signing of a three year cooperation agreement which will see approximately 100 new pilots trained by the academy.
BAA Training Vietnam’s MPL programme lasts 18 months and offers up to 30% cost savings compared to traditional training programmes. The programme further strengthens the existing partnership between Bamboo Airways and BAA Training, which dates back to 2019. BAA Training Vietnam has been supporting Bamboo Airways’ pilots with Airbus A320 full flight simulator training and recently arranged Type Rating training for Bamboo’s new Embraer aircraft type with the help of its partnership network in Europe.
Commenting on the agreement, Vytautas Jankauskas, CEO of BAA Training Vietnam, said: “Both BAA Training and Bamboo Airways share the same values. They ensure initial cadets get highquality, comprehensive training complying with the industry regulatory requirements, where aviation safety practices play a fundamental role. Our collaboration with Bamboo Airways allows us to combine our efforts and introduce a new MPL training programme following EASA’s rules and regulations. We expect to have a new generation of pilots to serve the airline industry in Vietnam.”
“We especially appreciate Bamboo Airways’ transparency, willingness to take an innovative approach, and use of modern business management methods. The newly launched MPL programme will allow us to contribute to developing the Vietnamese aviation sector by preparing self-disciplined pilots with the right skillset ready to work in a complex operational environment.”
Nguyen Manh Quan, CEO of Bamboo Airways, added: “The MPL programme conducted by Bamboo Airways and BAA Training is the first and only comprehensive initial cadet training programme in Vietnam. We hope that this advanced and cost-optimised programme will open the door for Vietnamese student pilots to realise their dream of conquering the sky.”
“We are now strengthening our time-tested partnership with BAA Training with the new MPL training programme. This will significantly assist us in shaping a new generation of professional and skillful pilots meeting international standards to best serve both domestic and international markets. Our cooperation with such a prestigious aviation service provider marks the next milestone in Bamboo Airways’ roadmap toward the self-provided pilot source.”
