Icelandair has announced the launch of a new ab-initio pilot cadet training programme in partnership with the Norwegian flight school Pilot Flight Academy.
The programme is designed to provide students with priority employment opportunities at Icelandair upon graduation.
The training programme includes theoretical training in Sandefjord, Norway, lasting about eight months, followed by practical training in Texas, USA for four months. Cadets then return to Norway for instrument and multi-engine training, A-UPRT, and APS MCC training, with the entire programme taking approximately 18 months, PFA confirms.
Icelandair CEO Bogi Nils Bogason said: “As an island, Iceland is heavily reliant on aviation, so it is crucial that we offer excellent educational opportunities in the specialised fields of aviation. While Icelandair continues to experience high demand for positions within our company, it is important to support the continued growth of our society and ensure a skilled workforce for the future.”
